Flood situation remains grim in Arunachal

In Arunachal Pradesh, the flood situation continues to be grim in around nine districts with thousands of people now sheltering in relief camps. At least one person has been swept away by flood waters in Sunpura area in Lohit district. The state government has already announced red alert in the state in the wake of the flood situation. In New Delhi yesterday, State Chief Minister Nabam Tuki called on UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and requested for central assistance to cope with the flood crisis. A release from the Chief Minister’s office said Sonia Gandhi has assured to provide assistance to the state and also send a central team to assess the damages.
