Flood situation remain grim in Assam; heavy rain hits Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya

There is no let up in flood condition in Assam. Nearly 2 lakh people have been affected in seven districts in recent surge of water.<br/><br/>Bongaigaon is the worst hit district where nearly one lakh and 35 thousand people are suffering due to flood. <br/>AIR Correspondent reports, roads, bridges, culverts and embankments have been damaged due to flood resulting in snapping of surface communication at several places. <br/><br/>Apart from flood, land erosion has also worsened the situation.45 relief camps have been set up in Kokrajhar,Chirang and Bongaigaon district to shelter over 17,000 flood hit people. <br/><br/>Boats have been deployed in rescue and relief works. <br/><br/>Food items are being distributed among the affected people. <br/><br/>Meanwhile, incessant rain in past couple of days has triggered floods and landslides in several districts of Arunachal Pradesh.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that it has disrupted normal life.<br/><br/>The road communication between Banderdewa and Itanagar via Karsingsa, the road connecting the capital city with Assam, remained disrupted.<br/><br/>Heavy showers have inundated the subways along National Highway-52 between Sille and Rani area in East Siang and road between Mikong and Mirem villages in West Siang District.<br/><br/>The flood situation in the worst affected Lohit and Anjaw district remained grim as a fresh wave of flood submerged agricultural land and human habitation in the district.
