In Odisha, the flood situation in northern parts of the state, triggered by cyclone Phalin and resultant heavy rain remains grim as major rivers are in spate. More than 75,000 people are still marooned in flood water as the death toll in the calamities mounted to 28. The Chief Minister Mr. Naveen Patnaik has announced ex-gratia assistance of 4 lakh rupees to the next of kin of each of the deceased in cyclone and flood. A report:
