Flood situation in Karimganj district continues to grim

In Assam, the flood situation in the Karimganj district of Barak Valley continues to be grim with heavy rainfall continuing in the north east region for the past few days. <br/><br/>The waters of swollen Singla, Longai and Kushiara rivers have inundated many new areas of the district including Karimganj town forcing people to take shelter in relief camps and other safer places. <br/><br/>According to central water commission, almost all the rivers of the district are in spate and flowing over a metre above the danger marks. The met office has predicted heavy to very heavy rains in all over the north east region during next 12 hours.
