In Haryana, the flood situation is improving gradually. The breach in Satluj Yamuna link canal has been plugged finally. Financial Commissioner Irrigation S S Dhillon interacting with media at Chandigarh said that around 2000 people worked day and night to plug this breach. <br/><br/>Haryana Government today made it clear that the in the Punjab territory, water of river Ghaggar has been diverted to Satluj Yamuna Link canal. It also suggested that to prevent damage and diversion of flood waters, joint patrolling and joint police force manned by both Haryana and Punjab police together should be put in place at all vulnerable points.<br/><br/>Haryana Government has sought a financial assistance of 1,023 crore rupees from the Central Government as the State has suffered losses in flood affected districts. <br/><br/>Stating this in a press conference at Chandigarh today, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Revenue, Mr.Naresh Gulati said that for repair of roads and bridges 204 crore rupees and for repair of damaged bunds and breaches and flushing out operations, 50 crore rupees would be required. He said that Government would be in need of 540 crore rupees for the damage to crops, besides the assistance for other losses incurred.
