The flood situation in five districts of Bihar worsened following heavy rain and the discharge of 9.58 lakh cusec of water from the Bansagar dam in Madhya Pradesh and Rihand dam in Uttar Pradesh in the past 36 hours. AIR Patna correspondent reports that thousands of people have been affected in Patna, Aurangabad, Arwal, Rohtash and Bhojpur districts. Water level of Sone and Ganga is above danger mark and is maintaing a rising trend. The flood water of Sone inundated over 100 villages in 30 Blocks forcing the villagers to shift to safer places. Two children died when their mud house collapsed in Rohtash district. NDRF team have been deployed to rescue the marooned in the affected areas.In view of the worsened flood situation, the state government has cancelled leaves of all engineers till October 15. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar instructed officials to speed up relief and rescue operations in the flood affected areas and keep a close watch on the situation.
