The over all flood situation of Barak Valley of Assam is fast improving due to continuous recede in the flood waters in almost all the rivers of the valley. Flood waters from the number of flood affected areas of the valley have also started receding.<br/>Meanwhile, the Assam Chief Minister, Shri Tarun Gogoi has said in Guwahati that the Government is for a permanent solution to the problems of flood and erosion in the State instead of the ad-hoc measures to tackle the twin problems. With such an approach, the State Government has moved the Central Government and the Planning Commission as well.<br/>Around 5.62 lakh people of the seven districts of Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Jorhat, Darrang, Morigaon, Cachar and Karimganj of state have already experienced flood. The worst hit among these districts is Karimganj. The Government has set up 300 relief camps, the Chief Minister further stated.<br/>
