Flood situation in Assam districts remains grim

The over all flood situation in Karimganj, Hailakandi and Cachar districts of Assam remains unchanged as still several parts of Barak Valley have been flooded by the over flowing waters of Barak, Katakhal, Kushiara, Longain and Sonai rivers. <br/> <br/>According to central water commission sources at Silchar, the river Barak and almost all the rivers of the valley are still flowing above danger level forcing people living in the low-lying areas of valley to safer places.<br/> <br/> <br/>The current flood continues to hit the normal life of the three districts of the valley as more new areas have been submerged by the flood water. The flood also submerged ten border-outposts of Border Security Force in Cachar and neighbouring Karimganj districts of the valley bordering Bangladesh.<br/> <br/>The state urban development and the Housing Minister, Shri Dinesh Prasad Goala will review the flood situation and the relief and rescue measures in the flood affected areas of the valley with officials at Silchar on Friday evening.<br/>
