Flood situation improves slightly in Assam

In Assam, the flood situation has slightly improved in Jorhat district on Tuesday. At least 25 thousand people are flood affected after the river Bhogdoi washed away the embankment at Sholmora Nahatiya at three places on Monday. The water of the river flooded at least 20 villages of the district. Many school authorities cancelled the on going half-yearly examination due to the floods.On the other hand, the breach in the embankment of river Kakodonga and Charaipani flooded another 15 villages at Titabar in Jorhat district. Flood water also washed away cultivation land of the area. AIR correspondent reports, the district administration has started repairing works of the breached embankment on a war footing.
