In West Bengal, flood situation has been improved at Hooghly, Bankura, North and South 24-Pargana districts though it is continues to be grim in some parts of East and West Midnapore districts. Giving this information the member of the core committee of the State Disaster Management and Industry Ministry Mr. Partho Chatterjee told in Kolkata yesterday that the government has requested the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) to release water from various barrages giving prior notice. AIR Kolkata correspondent reports that the flood situation is still critical at Ghatal, Daspur, Debra in West Midnapore and Tamluk, Maina, Panskura and Kulaghat in East Midnapore district. Over 1,63,000 people have been affected in West Midnapore district alone in the current spell of flood. The water level of Kansabati and Keleghai are still rising. However, water level of main rivers at Bankura district is receding. The State Irrigation Minister Dr. Manas Bhuiya, Disaster Management Minister Mr. Javed Khan and State Planning and Development Minister Mr. Manish Gupta reviewed the situation at a high level meeting in Kolkata.
