Flood situation improves in Punjab

<br/>In Punjab, the flood situation has improved in Patiala district and inflow of water has decreased in Ghaghar River. An official spokesman told AIR that out of 25 breaches in Patiala District, 12 have been plugged with the joint efforts of Army, District Administration and local people. In Sangrur district, three to four feet water is standing in about 25 villages. Administration is providing relief in these villages by using boats with the help of Army. In Mansa district, people of two villages have been shifted to safer places. But, there is a report that water entered in other villages also. <br/><br/>Punjab Agriculture Minister Sucha Singh Langah has announced that the State Government will distribute seeds worth five crore rupees free of cost among affected farmers. <br/><br/>Meanwhile, former Chief Minister of Punjab Captain Amrinter Singh has alleged that Haryana is responsible for the floods in Punjab. He said in Chandigarh that Haryana has constructed Hansi-Butana canal without constructing the required number of siphons due to which water accumulated and caused the breaches in the embankments of river.
