Flood situation grim in UP as water level in Ganga, Ramganga rises

In Uttar Pradesh, the flood situation is still grim in bordering districts of Haryana and Delhi due to spate in the river Yamuna. The rivers Ganga and Ramganga are also rising due to additional release of more than 4.5 lakh cusecs of water during past three days. The population living in the river basin have been shifted to safer places. AIR correspondent reports that the relief work is going on in all the flood affected districts. ‘More than 300 villages in Meerut, Saharanpur, Aligarh, Mathura, Farrukhabad and Shahjehanpur are affected. The Provincial Armed Constabulary-PAC has been deployed at severely hit places to evacuate the people. The food grains, essential items and cooked food are being distributed in the flood affected district. The rise in Yamuna has threatened new areas in west UP. While in eastern UP the flood situation has eased out as the major rivers in the area are on receding trend. The intermittent rain is continuing across the state.
