The flood situation in Assam today turned grim with the water level of the Brahmaputra and its tributaries rising in five districts following incessant rainfall in the catchment areas.Over one lakh people have been affected by the third wave of floods in the five districts of Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Golaghat, Sonitpur and Kamrup, official sources said.Vast areas of human habitation and crop land have been inundated by the rising water of the Brahmaputra which wasflowing above danger level in Lakhimpur district.Relief and rehabilitation are being provided to the victims and relief camps have also been set up in theaffected districts, the sources said.There has been, however, no loss of human lives so far.
