Flood situation continues to remain grim in North East

The situation in Assam remained critical with the mighty Brahmaputra crossing the danger level in several places, affecting over five lakh people at 400 villages in 11Districts.The river had crossed danger level at Guwahati, Goalpara, Sibsagar, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Nimatighat, Naharkatia and Tezpur Districts.Asia's largest human inhabited river island Majuli in Jorhat District is flooded following a breach in an embankment affecting thousands of people.The situation in Kaziranga National Park in Golaghat District and Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary in Morigaon District is alarming with the Brahmaputra inundating them. Flash floods triggered by incessant rain continues in Arunachal Pradesh's three districts – West Siang, Upper Siang and East Siang – paralysing normal life in the hill state.In Himachal Pradesh, the gateway to tribal Lahaul valley Rohtang pass received first snowfall of the season. Seven hill peaks surrounding Manali also experienced snowfall.The national highways leading to the Himalayan shrines of Gangotri and Yamunotri were blocked due to incessant rains in Uttarakhand. In Jammu and Kashmir, one person was washed away in flash floods in Samba District.In Uttar Pradesh heavy downpour also sent Ram Ganga and Yamuna rivers in spate.Widespread rain also lashed parts of Rajasthan.
