In Assam, around 430 villages in 11 districts are still reeling under flood. Around 1 lakh, 40 thousand people are affected in Dhemaji and Tinsukia districts in the recent wave of flood. The Central Water Commission report said that the Brahmaputra and its four tributaries are flowing above the danger level at eight places. Two people were killed and several injured in landslide at three places in Guwahati in the last 24 hours. Incessant rain disrupted vehicles movement in Guwahati.Meanwhile, Assam government is undertaking relief and rescue works in the affected areas. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi who is in U.S for an official tour, instructed the concerned departments to intensify relief and rescue works. He also instructed the disaster management unit to remain alert for any eventuality. The Chief Minister asked the district administration to provide sufficient relief materials, medicines and drinking water. National Disaster Response Force, NDRF, has already been deployed in Bongaigaon, Tinsukia, Sonitpur, Dhemaji and Lakhimpur district. Army rescue teams are also being engaged in a few areas. Tinsukia district administration has set up 11 relief camps. Five helicopters were also called in for rescue and relief works. In Dhemaji, 4 boats are being deployed to shift 10 thousand people to safer places. Rising water also submerged low lying areas of Kaziranga and Dibru-Saikhowa National Park.
