Flood situation in Odisha continues to be grim as millions of marooned people are yet to be evacuated and get relief materials. Though water has started receding in Mahanadi and its tributaries, half of the over 25 lakh affected people are yet to return to their home. A large number of villages have become inaccessible as flood water has done excessive damage to road communication.As per reports received from the Odisha Government, so far there has been 17 human causalities in the current flood, though it is expected to be much more. As many as 3505 villages have been badly affected in the current flood in 19 of the 30 districts in the state. The formation of another low pressure area over north Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas have created panic among the affected people.According to Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, rain and thundershower is likely to occur at many places over coastal Odisha and at a few places over interior parts of the state. Heavy rain might occur at one or two places over coastal districts during next two days.
