Flood situation continues to be grim; Barak river crosses warning level in Assam

In Assam, the Cachar District administration of Barak Valley has alerted Army, BSF and Air force following the mighty Barak River crossing the warning level. It submerged many low-lying areas of the district and road network. <br/><br/>The Deputy Commissioner in charge of Cachar District, B.C.Nath told AIR Silchar correspondent that forces have been asked to keep in readiness to assist the district administration to rescue the people if Barak River swells further. <br/><br/>In view of the critical flood situation in the District, the administration has also cancelled the leaves of its officials and asked them not to leave headquarters without permission. <br/><br/>In the neighbouring Karimganj district bordering Bangladesh and Tripura, the flood has affected over 3 lakh 50 thousand people. Three border out-posts of Border Security Forces (BSF) in the district have also been submerged by the flood water. The district administration has ordered closure of all schools and colleges of the district in view of the current flood.
