Flood situation continues to be grim; Barak river crosses warning level in Assam

In Assam , the over all flood situation in the worst hit Karimganj District of Barak Valley has further deteriorates on Thursday with the flood water of swollen Kushiara and Longai rivers continue to inundate more new areas. <br/><br/>The Deputy Commissioner In-Charge of Karimganj, A.Nanda Babu Singha told our Silchar correspondent that the over all flood situation of the district is still very alarming. He said that jawans of the National Disaster Response Force with engine boats are assisting the district administration in relief and rescue works in the flood affected areas.<br/><br/><br/>In the neighbouring Cachar district of the valley, the administration has asked the Army, BSF and Air force to keep in readiness to assist the district administration in rescue and relief operations.
