Flood situation affects parts of North India

The flood situation has affected normal life in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand as rains continued to wreak havoc in North India. In Haryana, as many as 97 villages of Yamunnagar, Karnal and Panipat are affected in the current flood. In Panipat, a 90 feet breach occurred in the morning on an embankment. Around 12 villages of Panipat including Pathergarh and Rahimpur khera have been affected.In western Uttar Pradesh, the flood situation became critical after the release of more water from Hathini Kund and Haridwar barrages. In Uttarakhand, two more persons were killed in rain related incident.In Himachal Pradesh, roads have been badly damaged in Shimla and Sirmour districts due to land slides and heavy rain. Rivers are in spate and hundreds of vehicles remain stranded.Yamuna river is continuously flowing above the danger mark in Delhi, following the release of 10 lakh cusec water in last three days from Hathinikund barrage in Haryana. The water level has now reached to 206.08 meters which is 1.25 meters above the danger mark. Meanwhile, for precautionary measures the Old Yamuna Bridge was today shut for rail and road traffic.Heavy rainfall is continuing in Arunachal Pradesh. Eight persons have died in heavy landslides in upper Siang district on Thursday. The district administration has sent officials alongwith medical staff to provide immediate relief. Huge landslides and flash floods are also reported from other parts of Arunachal Pradesh. Due to heavy rainfall in capital Itanagar and Passighat since last 24 hours, normal life has been affected. Power and water supply are also affected.
