In Algeria, floods triggered by heavy downpours in several of the country's provinces in the past two days have left at least nine people dead and toppled some houses. Three people died in floods caused by burst river banks in Djelfa province and two were killed in Medea province. A spokesman for civil rescue authorities said four people drowned and their bodies were retrieved from a swollen river in the northwestern province of Musila. Torrents of rain also caused landslides in Algiers province.
