In Uttar Pradesh, several western districts are reeling under severe flood. Army is conducting rescue and relief work in Hardoi, Shahjehanpur and Badaun. National Disaster Response Force has so far evacuated 3,000 people from the heavily marooned areas.Lakhs of cusecs of water from Narora, Banbasa and Haridwar barrages has been released triggering further rise in the level of the rivers. The Ganga in Farrukhabad has broken its 72 years’ record of high flood inundating 200 villages in the district.AIR correspondent reports that the rain has weakened in the western and eastern regions but the flood situation remains grim.No heavy rain has occurred in the western region during last 24 hours but the flood situation has aggravated mainly due to release of water from different barrages.More than 350 villages in three tehsils of Hardoi have become affected. The rail traffic between Kasganj and Lucknow has been disrupted as a train derailed near Kanshiramnagar on Friday when a small bridge under the track caved in. The driver of the train died due to drowning while ten others got injured. The engine and a bogie of Ruhelkhand Express got inundated in the flood water of Yamuna. The relief work is going on in full swing but the relief from the intense flood is yet to come.
