In Assam, flood havoc continues in a few districts of Upper Assam. Incessant rains in the catchments of the neighboring hills of Arunachal Pradesh and over flowing of a few rivers above the Danger level, flooded many places at Dhemaji ,Sonitpur and Jorhat districts. At least 20 thousand people are effected in Sonitpur district where Jia Bharali and Gabharu river also flooded agricultural fields. On the other hand, flood effected people of Dhemaji district are taking shelter on the National Highway and other high places. At least 35 villages of the district are affected by flood. In Jorhat district, breach of embankment at Bhogdoi flooded 7 villages. Also, many places of Majuli Island in Jorhat district , are still under water. The district administration has already started relief works on a war footing. The Central Water Commission report this evening said that Brahmaputra at Neamatighat, Jia Bharali in Sonitpur and Dhansiri at Numalighar are flowing above Danger level. Other tributaries of river Brahmaputra are flowing near the danger level at many places. Met Department has predicted rain and thunder shower at many places over Assam in the next 12 hours.
