Flood fury leaves deep impact on rural Assam

In Assam, around 1 lakh, 50 thousand people of 160 villages are reeling under flood-water in Nalbari, Barpeta and Morigaon districts. Incessant rains flooded new areas of Mayang and Bhuragaon in Morigaon district this evening. The State Agriculture Minister Nilmani Sen Deka on Sunday visited the flood affected areas.

AIR correspondent reports, the Agriculture minister visited Barpeta and Nalbari district and took stoke of the situation. The minister announced to provide free seeds to the flood affected farmers within 15 days. So far around 12 thousand hectare crop land affected in the recent wave of flood. District administration has set up relief camps and also deployed medical teams in the flood affected areas. Surface communication is being disrupted causing problem in the movement of vehicles. Meanwhile, local people recovered body of a woman at Tihu in Nalbari that swept away by raging water while two students, one each in Barpeta and Morigaon, are still missing.
