In Uttar Pradesh, while the flood situation has eased out in western districts, the situation has further deteriorated in the eastern part, where new areas in Gonda and Barabanki districts have become flooded due to breach in Elgin-Charsai embankment. AIR correspondent reports that the work to repair the bund is in progress. The relief is yet to reach many isolated places. The level of Ghaghra in these two districts has receded as the water has spread in a wider area. Our Gorakhpur correspondent reports that 173 villages in the district have become affected from the flood of Rapti. Rudrapur tehsil of Deoria district is worst affected where 116 villages have become affected. In west UP, the level of Ganga, Ramganga and Yamuna has started receding in Kannauj, Moradabad and Muzaffarnagar. The infectious diseases have spread in certain pockets of the state.
