In Bihar, flood fury continues in 14 districts of the state. The swirling water of Bagamati, Kamla Balan and Burhi Gandak has engulfed fresh areas of Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur and Samastipur. Rains in North Bihar have further aggravated the situation. Gandak is posing a threat to its embankment at several places. Train services on Darbhanga- Samastipur section remained suspended. Standing crops in over 4.50 lakh hectare area have been washed away. Over one thousand five hundred huts were destroyed.<br/><br/>All schools in the flood affected areas have been closed for this week. <br/><br/>State government has pressed into service 50 rescue teams comprising of columns of the army, NDRF and SDRF, which include around over two thousand one hundred trained personnel in the affected districts with 276 boats.<br/><br/>Three helicopters are engaged in dropping of dry food packets in the flood affected areas. Over 70 thousand food packets were dropped in bordering districts of Purnea, Kishanganj and Araria. 504 relief camps have been set up in which about two lakh people are taking shelter.
