In Arunachal Pradesh, normal life was badly affected in the three districts of Lower Dibang Valley, Changlang and Lohit due to continuous and heavy downpour. One person has been swept away by flood water of Balijan river on Wednesday night. His body was recovered yesterday with the help of CRPF jawans. Meanwhile, six relief camps were set up in Lohit district and five in Namsai, for relief and rehabilitation. Lohit district headquarter Tezu is still cut off from rest of the country. The government has sounded red alert in the state. Our correspondent report s that in Chowkham circle water level of Lohit, Kamlang and their tributaries is on rising trend and crossed the previous highest level of June last. Alubari, Nopatia, Mabira , Morapat and its adjoining villages are totally cut off as water of Lohit and Sibiri has been continuously and rapidly increasing. Services of 9th ITBP and 186th Bn CRPF have been requisitioned for relief and rescue operations. On the other hand, 31 people were rescued from the flood of Balijan river in Sunpura circle by a contingent of 186 CRPF yesterday. Meanwhile, Pangin-Pasighat road which connects East Siang district with Upper Siang and West Siang district remain cut off due to heavy landslides at Sirki. Expressing concern over reports of heavy floods and damages, Chief Minister directed placement of Rs 10 lakhs each with the deputy commissioners and Rs 5 lakhs each to independent Additional Deputy Commissioners of those districts for immediate relief measures. The chief minister further directed constitution of disaster management and mitigation cells in the districts to monitor the situation and launch rescue and relief operations as and when needed.
