In Uttarakhand, five more people lost their lives in rain related incidents. With this, the death toll in flood and landslide in the state has gone upto 65 during the past two days. More than 100 houses have been damaged and people have been shifted to safer places. Water in Tehri dam has crossed its highest level. MET Department predicts more rain in next 24 hours. AIR correspondent reports, heavy rain leads landslides at many places in the state. Meanwhile, three persons were killed in Dehradun whereas two others lost their lives in Uttarkashi. Thousands of yatris are stranded at various places. Communication and train services along with water and power supply are also affected. According to reports water level of Tehri dam has crossed its maximum level and now about 200 cusecs water is overflowing. Many parts of the Hardwar and Rishikesh are flooded. Rescue efforts are on to evacuate the people who are surrounded by the flood. Meanwhile, due to intermittent release of water from different barrages the situation is deteriorating in lower parts of the state. In Uttar Pradesh, flood situation has again worsened in several districts particularly in the western parts of the state where Yamuna, Ganga and Ramganga rivers are overflowing and submerged many villages in Saharanpur, Meerut, Mathura, Muzaffarnagar, Moradabad, Rampur and Bijnore districts. AIR Lucknow correspondent reports State government has sought choppers to airlift about 1500 people, who have taken shelter in a Gurdwara in Bijnore following submerging of their villages by the flood waters of river Ganga. Vehicular traffic on National Highway-24 connecting New Delhi and Lucknow via Bareilly has been disrupted at Moradabad due to flood. Traffic on the NH-74 which passes through Bijnore has also been affected due to the deluge. Flood waters have also inundated several villages in Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Rampur, Bareilly, Farrukhabad and Shahjahanpur districts, owing to overflowing Ramganga River. The movement of vehicles on Badarpur-Nagina road was hit as flood waters have entered in over several villages of Saharanpur, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddhnagar, Aligarh, Mathura and other districts. The threat of flood again looming large over the national capital with neighbouring state Haryana releasing over six lakh cusecs of water into Yamuna yesterday. The river is flowing above the danger mark in the city. Heavy rain also affected life in Delhi on Sunday causing water logging and traffic disruptions. In Haryana, swollen Yamuna is posing a danger to people living in villages near its banks following heavy rains at catchment areas of the river in neighbouring Himachal Pradesh. The heavy inflow of water forced authorities to release around three lakh cusecs water from Hathni Kund barrage, posing threats to areas like Yamunanagar, Ambala, Karnal, Panipat and Sonipat districts. The situation is also bad in Ludhiana, Ropar, Patiala and Anandpur Sahib in Punjab as Sutlej was in spate in the wake of heavy rain in upper hills in Himachal Pradesh.
