Flights to East Africa have been severely disrupted following the eruption of an Eritrean volcano which has spread ash across the region. Several airlines say they have halted fights to Eritrea, Sudan, Djibouti and Ethiopia. Officials say, the cloud had reached as far as Sudan and southern Egypt and was now heading towards Saudi Arabia.
