Flights and trains delayed as smog engulfs Delhi

A thick blanket of smoke and haze reduced visibility in the national capital for the second day today, disturbing life in the city considerably. Several flights and trains were delayed due to the smog and road traffic was also badly affected. AIR correspondent adds that early in the morning drivers switched on headlights as visibility was just around 500 to 800 meters. Met department says, the situation is likely to continue for some more days and there is nothing unusual about it. However, environmental groups and experts say that this is mainly due to rise in pollution levels in the city and also because of the big gap between day and night temperature.
