Flight for IPL players operated as per rules: Air India

Air India today clarified that it had operated a charter flight to carry IPL players from Chandigarh to Chennai as per rules and procedures. <br/><br/>The National Carrier maintained that Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel's daughter, Poorna, was not involved in this operation. The airline was reacting to reports in the media that Poorna had got an aircraft pulled out from scheduled operations for the charter flight. <br/><br/>A statement by the National carrier said in a statement that such malicious reports are being published to tarnish the image of the national carrier for carrying out a normal business operation. <br/><br/>Describing the charter as a planned operation the airline said it was undertaken after taking into account all factors and standard operating procedures including clearance from Defence authorities, regarding the operational viability without inconvenience to the passengers.<br/><br/>Earlier, The BJP on Friday sought explanation from government on the reported diversion of a flight by Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel's daughter for an IPL team.<br/><br/>Talking to reporters outside Parliament, BJP spokesman Prakash Javdekar alleged that the Civil Aviation Minister is involved in the IPL controversy and his role should be thoroughly probed.<br/><br/>Replying to a question on whether the party is seeking resignation of the Minister, he said that the stand will be cleared only when the enquiry reveals all facts.<br/><br/>Speaking on the same lines, CPI also alleged Civil Aviation Minister's involvement in the IPL controversy. Demanding BCCI to take responsibility for IPL, party leader D Raja demanded the government to decide which ministry is responsible for the league.
