Flashfloods inundate low lying areas in Nagaland

In Nagaland, Flashfloods following heavy downpour have inundated many low lying areas and caused soil erosion and landslides in hilly areas. In Dimapur, river Chathe damaged properties and rendered people living alongside the banks homeless. Sources said, the river crossed the danger mark and strong current continued to wash away major portion of boundary wall, causing massive landslides. The Highway has been affecting the highway and paddy fields destroyed.Meanwhile, a 300 feet long bridge connecting 21 villages of under Dimapur district was washed away by strong river currents on Monday. In yet another incident, a class 9 Student, Hamchai Phom of Pongo village under Longleng district of Nagaland was killed by lightning yesterday when he was playing football with his friends.
