Flash floods inundate over 120 villages in Assam’s Dhemaji district

In Assam, flash flood has inundated over 120 villages in Dhemaji district. Around 55 thousand people are reeling under water.

The surging water of Jiadhal river washed away a portion of National Highway number 52 at Bhebeli area last evening. As a result surface communication to Dhemaji with rest of the state has been disrupted.

Road communication between Assam and three districts of Arunachal Pradesh has also been disrupted. People have taken shelter at high embankments and other safer places.

Official sources in Guwahati said that the National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force are being pressed into service.
