In Kerala, five youths were drowned at Kundala dam near Munnar in Idukki district on Thursday afternoon. The bodies of four have been recovered, while efforts are on to fish out one more body from the reservoir. Police sources said the youths who entered the water for swimming were swept away by strong currents in the river. While one was rescued, others could not be saved. The youths hailed from Kazhakootam in Thiruvananthapuram. The dam's water level is high due to heavy rain in its catchment areas.
