In Odisha, five political parties stepped up their protest against the proposed POSCO project at Jagatsinghpur district and burnt copies of the compliance report submitted by the state government to Centre on Forest Regulations Act on Wednesday. Large number of members of CPI, CPI(M), Forward Block, Samajwadi Party and Republican Party of India shouted anti-Naveen Patnaik government slogans and alleged that the state government had submitted a flawed FRA compliance report to the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF). The leaders of these political parties also accused the state government of not confering to the guidelines in the implementation of FRA and not abiding decision of ''Palli Sabhas''.Earlier, the Odisha Government in its report had submitted a report to MoEF assuring there are no tribals and forest dwellers residing in the proposed POSCO site since 75 years. POSCO Pratirodh Sangram Samiti (PPSS), an anti-POSCO project body, supporters had burnt the copies of the state government's report on April 15 last at Dhinkiapatna in the proposed site area. PPSS had also e-mailed Minister for Environment and Forests Jairam Ramesh about non-compliance of FRA in the proposed site.
