Five opposition parties in Manipur forms ‘Peoples Democratic Front’

In Manipur, five opposition parties have formally formed an opposition pre-poll alliance called Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) to jointly fight the State Assembly election which has been scheduled on the 28th of this month. Speaking to media persons at Imphal Monday afternoon, Manipur Peoples Party (MPP) President Dr. Nimaichand Luwang announced that MPP, NCP, JDU, RJD and the CPIM will be the coalition partners of the front. He also said that the common minimum programme of the PDF will soon be declared after the next meeting of the front. The front has also agreed on fielding common candidates in 30 Assembly Constituencies in the first phase in which MPP will fight in 15 seats, NCP in nine, JDU in five and the CPIM in one.
