Five more Indian wetlands get Ramsar recognition as wetlands of international importance

<span style="color: #222222;">Five more Indian wetlands have got Ramsar recognition as wetlands of international importance. These include three wetlands in Tamil Nadu –  Karikili Bird Sanctuary, Pallikaranai Marsh Reserve Forest and Pichavaram Mangrove, Pala wetland in Mizoram and Sakhya Sagar in Madhya Pradesh. There are now a total of 54 Ramsar sites in the country. Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav said, the emphasis Prime Minister Narendra Modi has put on environmental protection and conservation has led to a marked improvement in how India treats its wetlands.</span><br />
