The government plans to set up 20 cancer institutes and 50 tertiary care centres in the country. Replying to a question in the Lok Sabha, Health Minister J P Nadda said cancer kills five lakh people annually. <br/><br/>Men usually suffer from throat and stomach cancer and women from breast, cervix and uterus cancer. He said under the scheme, 47 proposals have been received from 26 States and Union Territories. Of these, 14 proposals from 13 states have been approved and funds released.
