In Manipur, five civilians were killed and another seven seriously injured in a bomb blast in the capital city Imphal on Monday afternoon. The IED was planted in a scooter at the crowded Sangakpham Bazar, Imphal. The intensity of the blast was so powerful that the dead bodies were torn into pieces. Imphal city remained quite peaceful for some time. No one believed that such a powerful bomb blast will take place in the city. But, an indication of such incident was given late last night when a powerful bomb was exploded at Singjamei Bazar, Imphal. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. Since Monday’s blast is the second explosion in the city within 24 hours, police have launched a massive manhunt to nab the culprits. All the Police stations across the state have been alerted. Police patrolling and frisking operations in the city have also been intensified. State Governor Gurbachan Jagat while condemning the incident called upon the state government to take effective action against the perpetrators of the heinous crime. State Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh rushed to the blast site just after the incident to take stock of the situation.
