In Orissa, five girl Maoists, all juveniles including one allegedly involved in murders, surrendered in Keonjhar district yesterday. Police said, the rebels, belonging to the Kalinganagar division of CPI (Maoist), laid their arms in the presence of DIG Yashwant Jethwa. The girls said, harassment by seniors and frustration at the outfit's failure to uplift tribals forced them take the decision. The ultras had played active roles in unleashing terror in Baitarni river basin area in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts. The girls handed over a pistol, a country-made gun and some live cartridges to the authorities.
