In West Bengal, five candidates have been elected unopposed in biennial poll for Rajya Sabha from the state. Out of five candidates, four belong to ruling Trinamool Congress and one from CPIM. Winning Trinamool Congress Candidates include Union Railway Minister Mukul Roy, Journalist Kunal Ghosh, Nadimul Haque and Vivek Gupta. CPI(M) nominee Tapan Sen has also been re-elected. Congress nominee Abdul Mannan withdrew his nomination on the last date of withdrawal of candidature today. Secretary of the West Bengal Assembly Yadav Lal Chakraborty announced the names of the winning candidates at Kolkata on Thursday afternoon.
