Five casualties in Mandsaur occurred in police firing: MP home minister

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Bhupendra Singh today said that the five casualties during farmers' agitation in Mandsaur occurred in police firing. Mr. Singh told this to PTI over phone.<br/><br/>Five farmers were killed two days ago during protests at Pipliamandi in Mandsaur district. <br/><br/>Asked what provoked the police to fire, the home minister said it is being probe in the magisterial inquiry.<br/><br/>However, he said the situation was now peaceful in western Madhya Pradesh.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, the state government has transferred collector and SP of violence hit Mandsaur district. Collector Swatantra Kumar Singh and SP O P Tripathi have been shifted. <br/><br/>Manoj Singh will be the new SP of Mandsaur while O P Shrivastava will be the new collector. Collectors of adjoining Neemuch and Ratlam districts have also been changed. <br/><br/><br/>Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu today blamed the Congress for politicizing the issues of farmers in Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh. <br/><br/>Speaking to media in New Delhi, Mr Naidu said, from the day one NDA government is focusing on agriculture and rural development. <br/><br/>He blamed Congress for doing nothing for the farmers. The Minister said, the Shivraj Singh Chouhan Government in Madhya Pradesh is farmer friendly and agriculture growth is 20 per cent in the state. <br/><br/>Mr Naidu said, the problem in the state arised due to the wrong policies of the previous Congress Government. He said, the State government is taking appropriate steps to bring long term solution to the problems faced by the farmers.
