Five buried alive in house collapse due to landslide in Uttarakhand

In Uttarakhand, five members of a family, including three children, were buried alive when a house collapsed in landslides triggered by heavy rains in Basantipur village in Chamoli district early today. Official sources said in Gopeshwar that the bodies of all the five members were later recovered by a search and rescue team comprising members of ITBP and police personnel.The deceased belonged to Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh. The head of the family ,Rajbar, was a daily wage earner and the family had rented a house in the village.Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank expressed grief over the incident and asked the district administration to provide ex-gratia to next of the kin of the deceased.
