Fissures have surfaced in the opposition NDA ahead of the Presidential election on 9th of July. The key alliance partner of the combine Shiv Sena has pledged its support to ruling UPA candidate Pranab Mukherjee at a time when NDA is weighing options to field its own candidate in the poll.

Shiv Sena has described the UPA nominee as a right candidate for the top post . Its party Chief, Bal Thakare sought unanimous support for Mr. Mukherjee. The Congress has appealed all political parties to support Mr. Mukherjee for the top post. NDA had two meetings to discuss the issue .
