The 23 fishermen from Tamil Nadu who were freed by the Sri Lankan Navy returned to Mandapam, near Rameswaram, early today. The fishermen were apprehended by the Sri Lankan Navy last Saturday when they were fishing in Lankan waters after crossing the international maritime border.

Meanwhile, fishermen from Rameswaram resumed their fishing activities today. They were on strike for two days in protest against Lankan Navy apprehending Tamil Nadu fishermen.
