Government has said that Fisheries and Aquaculture Sector in the country provides livelihood support to a total two crore 80 lakh fishers. Out of these, 27 lakh 80 thousand fishers are full-time actively engaged in fisheries and fisheries related activities. Fisheries Minister Parshottam Rupala said this in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">He said, the Department of Fisheries is implementing a flagship programme of Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana with an aim to bring about Blue Revolution through sustainable and responsible development of fisheries sector. He said, highest ever investment of over 20 thousand crore rupees will be made for a period of five years with effect from 2020-21 to 2024-25 in all the States and Union Territories.</span><br />
