first woman to become the President of Costa Rica Laura Chinchilia has been inaugurated in a ceremony in the country's capital San Jose, attended by several Latin American leaders. Ms Chinchilia made history when in February she was elected country's first female President. She takes over in challenging times. Crime rates have sharply increased in what was once known as the region's safest country. Many including the US State Department fear that the military offensive by Mexican Government against the drug cartels has pushed their business in Central America n countries. And that is why Ms Chinchilia a former Security Minister has said first measures of the Government would be aimed at combating this menace. <br/>
