The first train transporting water to drought-hit Marathwada region of Maharashtra today left from Miraj Town of Western Maharashtra for Latur. It is expected to reach Latur tonight. 50-wagon train, which can carry 2 Lakh 75 Thousand litres of water reached Miraj yesterday afternoon. The wagons, which are used to transport fuel and oil, were steam-cleaned to remove traces of these substances in the Railway Workshop at Kota in Rajasthan before sending them to Miraj.<br/><br/>The Sangli district administration is working day and night to complete the 2,700-metre supply line to bring water from the railways' filter house to the railway yard. The work, at a cost of 1.84 crore rupees, started on Saturday morning. It will take at least four more days to complete the pipeline.
