First vessel carrying LNG from Qatar arrives in Kochi port

In Kerala, the first vessel carrying LNG to the Petronet LNG Terminal at Puthuvype in Kochi reached the Cochin Port this morning.The vessel, Wil Energy is carrying 58424 metric tonnes of LNG from Qatar.Though the vessel reached the outer sea off Kochi on the 11th of this month it could not be berthed as dredging works near the terminal was not completed.The LNG which is kept at minus 160 degree Celsius, will be regassified and supplied to industries like Fertilisers and Chemicals of Travancore and the BPCL Kochi Refinery. LNG will be provided to more industries once the Kochi – Mangalore and the Kochi-Bangaluru pipe line laying project is completed.
