The first passenger train service between Turkey and Iraq has come into operation. The semi-official Anatolia news agency said the train started its trip from Iraq's northern city Mosul today and will reach Turkey's southeastern city Gaziantep tomorrow.<br/> <br/>The agency said Turkish and Iraqi officials signed a memorandum of understanding in October 2009 to launch the train service, which is expected to boost economic, social and cultural ties between the two neighbors.<br/> <br/>The first passenger train from Gaziantep to Mosul will depart on Thursday.<br/>
