Iranian media says the first round of talks between Iran and the representatives of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany today has ended in a positive atmosphere. Iranian channel PressTV, quoting the statement from Iran's Supreme National Security Council has said that both sides have agreed to continue talks based on agreements made at the third Geneva talks. The statement added that the talks, aimed at finding ways for further collaboration between the two sides will continue tomorrow. Press TV says that EU foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton, who headed the P5+1 delegation, also said talks will continue to try and find common points. The five permanent members of the UN Security Council – Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States – plus Germany have said that they believe Iran's uranium enrichment process is a cover for developing nuclear weapons. Iran has repeatedly denied the allegations, saying it is developing the technology to meet its civilian energy needs. Iran is facing four rounds of UN sanctions over its nuclear programme.
